Misja dwunastu apostołów
(Mat. 10,5—15Mar. 6,7—13)1 I zwoławszy dwunastu, dał im moc i władzę nad wszystkimi demonami i moc uzdrawiania chorób.
2 I posłał ich, aby głosili Królestwo Boże i uzdrawiali.
3 I rzekł do nich: Niczego nie zabierajcie na drogę, ani kija, ani torby, ani chleba, ani pieniędzy, ani dwóch szat.

Zaniepokojenie Heroda
(Mat. 14,1—2Mar. 6,14—16)7 I usłyszał tetrarcha Herod o wszystkim, co się działo, i był zaniepokojony, dlatego że niektórzy mówili, iż Jan. został zmartwychwzbudzony,
8 A niektórzy, że Eliasz się pojawił, a inni, że powstał któryś z dawnych proroków.
9 Herod zaś rzekł: Jana ja kazałem ściąć, któż zaś jest Ten, o którym słyszę te rzeczy? I pragnął go widzieć.
Nakarmienie pięciu tysięcy
(Mat. 14,13—21Mar. 6,30—44Jan 6,1—13)10 A apostołowie, powróciwszy, opowiedzieli mu o wszystkim, czego dokonali. I wziąwszy ich z sobą, wycofał się na pustkowie koło miasta, zwanego Betsaidą.
11 A tłumy, dowiedziawszy się o tym, poszły za nim. Przyjąwszy je, mówił do nich o Królestwie Bożym i leczył tych, którzy potrzebowali uzdrowienia.
12 A dzień chylił się ku wieczorowi. Wtedy przystąpiło, do niego dwunastu i rzekli: Rozpuść tłum, aby poszli do okolicznych wiosek i osad i tam postarali się o pomieszczenie i wyżywienie, gdyż tutaj jesteśmy na miejscu pustynnym.
13 A On rzekł do nich: Wy im dajcie jeść. Oni zaś odrzekli: Nie mamy więcej aniżeli pięć chlebów i dwie ryby, chyba żebyśmy poszli i kupili żywności dla wszystkiego ludu.
14 Albowiem mężów było około pięciu tysięcy. Rzekł więc do uczniów swoich: Każcie im usiąść w grupach mniej więcej po pięćdziesięciu.
15 I uczynili tak, i posadzili wszystkich.
16 Wziąwszy zaś te pięć chlebów i dwie ryby, spojrzał w niebo, pobłogosławił je, rozłamał i dawał uczniom, by kładli przed ludem.
17 I jedli, i nasycili się wszyscy; i zebrano pozostałych okruszyn dwanaście koszów.
Wyznanie Piotra o Jezusie
(Mat. 16,13—19Mar. 8,27—29)18 I stało się, gdy modlił się na osobności, że byli razem z nim uczniowie, i zapytał ich tymi słowy: Za kogo mają mnie ludzie?
19 A oni odpowiadając, rzekli: Za Jana Chrzciciela, a inni za Eliasza, inni jeszcze za jednego z dawnych proroków, który zmartwychwstał.
20 I rzekł do nich: A wy za kogo mnie macie? A Piotr odpowiedział, mówiąc: Za Chrystusa, Syna Bożego.
Jezus zapowiada swoją śmierć i zmartwychwstanie
(Mat. 16,20—21Mar. 8,30—31)21 A On zgromił ich i zakazał im mówić o tym komukolwiek,
22 Powiadając: Syn Człowieczy musi wiele cierpieć i musi być odrzucony przez starszych i arcykapłanów, i uczonych w Piśmie, i musi być zabity, a dnia trzeciego wskrzeszony.
Jezus wzywa do naśladowania go
(Mat. 16,24—28Mar. 8,34—9,1)23 I powiedział do wszystkich: Jeśli kto chce pójść za mną, niechaj się zaprze samego siebie i bierze krzyż swój na siebie codziennie, i naśladuje mnie.
24 Kto bowiem chce zachować duszę swoją, straci ją, kto zaś straci duszę swoją dla mnie, ten ją zachowa.
25 Bo cóż pomoże człowiekowi, choćby cały świat pozyskał, jeśli siebie samego zatraci lub szkodę poniesie?
26 Kto bowiem wstydzi się mnie i moich słów, tego i Syn Człowieczy wstydzić się będzie, gdy przyjdzie w chwale swojej i Ojca, i aniołów świętych.
27 Powiadam zaś wam prawdziwie: Niektórzy z obecnych tutaj nie zaznają śmierci, aż ujrzą Królestwo Boże.
Przemienienie Jezusa
(Mat. 17,1—8Mar. 9,2—8)28 A mniej więcej w osiem dni po tych mowach zabrał z sobą Piotra i Jana, i Jakuba i wszedł na górę, aby się modlić.
29 A gdy się modlił, wygląd oblicza jego odmienił się, a szata jego stała się biała i lśniąca.
30 I oto dwaj mężowie rozmawiali z nim, a byli to Mojżesz i Eliasz,
31 Którzy ukazali się w chwale i mówili o jego zgonie, który miał nastąpić w Jerozolimie.
32 A Piotra i jego towarzyszy zmógł sen. A gdy się obudzili, ujrzeli chwałę jego i tych dwóch mężów, którzy przy nim stali.
33 A gdy oni rozstawali się z nim, Piotr, nie wiedząc, co mówi, rzekł do Jezusa: Mistrzu, dobrze nam tu być, uczyńmy więc trzy namioty, jeden tobie, jeden Mojżeszowi, jeden Eliaszowi.
34 A gdy on to mówił, powstał obłok i zacienił ich. I zlękli się, gdy wchodzili w obłok.
35 A z obłoku odezwał się głos: Ten jest Syn mój wybrany, tego słuchajcie.
36 A gdy ten głos się odezwał, okazało się, że Jezus był sam. A oni przemilczeli to i w tych dniach nikomu nie mówili nic o tym, co widzieli.
Uzdrowienie epileptyka
(Mat. 17,14—18Mar. 9,14—27)37 A nazajutrz, gdy zeszli z góry, zabiegł mu drogę liczny tłum.
38 A oto mąż z tłumu krzyknął, mówiąc: Nauczycielu, błagam cię, wejrzyj na syna mojego, na mojego jedynaka,
39 Bo oto duch porywa go i zaraz krzyczy, i szarpie nim z pianą na ustach, i z trudem opuszcza go potłuczonego.
40 Błagałem też uczniów twoich, aby go wygnali, lecz nie potrafili.
41 A Jezus odpowiadając, rzekł: O rodzie niewierzący i przewrotny, jak długo mam być z wami i mam was znosić? Przyprowadź tutaj syna swego.
42 A gdy jeszcze podchodził, porwał go demon i szarpnął nim. Jezus zaś zgromił ducha nieczystego i uzdrowił chłopca, i oddał go ojcu jego.
Jezus po raz wtóry zapowiada swoją śmierć
(Mat. 17,22—23Mar. 9,30—32)43 I zdumiewali się wszyscy nad wielkością Boga. Lecz gdy wszyscy dziwili się temu wszystkiemu, co czynił, On rzekł do uczniów swoich:
44 Nakłońcie uszu swoich do tych słów: Syn Człowieczy będzie wydany w ręce ludzkie.
45 Lecz oni nie zrozumieli tego słowa i było ono zakryte przed nimi, tak że nie pojęli go, a bali się go pytać o znaczenie tego słowa.
O prawdziwej wielkości
(Mat. 18,1—5Mar. 9,33—37)46 Przyszło im też na myśl, kto by z nich był największy.
47 Jezus zaś, wiedząc o tej myśli ich serc, wziął dziecię i postawił je przy sobie,
48 I rzekł do nich: Kto by przyjął to dziecię w imieniu moim, mnie przyjmuje. Kto zaś mnie przyjmuje, przyjmuje tego, który mnie posłał. Kto bowiem jest najmniejszy między wami wszystkimi, ten jest wielki.
Nauka o tolerancji
(Mar. 9,38—40)49 A Jan. odpowiadając, rzekł: Mistrzu, widzieliśmy takiego, który w twoim imieniu wygania demony i zabranialiśmy mu, ponieważ nie chodzi z nami.
50 Wtedy Jezus rzekł do niego: Nie zabraniajcie; kto bowiem nie jest przeciwko wam, ten jest z wami.
Jezus w drodze do Jerozolimy
Niegościnni Samarytanie
51 I stało się, gdy dopełniały się dni, kiedy miał być wzięty do nieba i postanowił pójść do Jerozolimy,
52 Że wysłał przed sobą posłańców. A ci w drodze wstąpili do wioski samarytańskiej, aby mu przygotować gospodę.
53 Lecz nie przyjęli go, dlatego, że droga jego prowadziła do Jerozolimy.
54 A gdy to widzieli uczniowie Jakub i Jan, rzekli: Panie, czy chcesz, abyśmy słowem ściągnęli ogień z nieba, który by ich pochłonął, jak to i Eliasz uczynił?
55 A On, obróciwszy się, zgromił ich i rzekł: Nie wiecie, jakiego ducha jesteście.
56 Albowiem Syn Człowieczy nie przyszedł zatracać dusze ludzkie, ale je zachować. I poszli do innej wioski.
Potrzeba wyrzeczeń
(Mat. 8,19—22)57 Gdy tedy szli drogą, rzekł ktoś do niego: Pójdę za tobą, dokądkolwiek pójdziesz.
58 A Jezus rzekł do niego: Lisy mają jamy, a ptaki niebieskie gniazda, lecz Syn Człowieczy nie ma, gdzie by głowę skłonił.
59 Do drugiego zaś rzekł: Pójdź za mną! A ten rzekł: Pozwól mi najpierw odejść i pogrzebać ojca mego.
60 Odrzekł mu: Niech umarli grzebią umarłych swoich, lecz ty idź i głoś Królestwo Boże.
61 Powiedział też inny: Pójdę za tobą, Panie, pierwej jednak pozwól mi pożegnać się z tymi, którzy są w domu moim.
62 A Jezus rzekł do niego: Żaden, który przyłoży rękę do pługa i ogląda się wstecz, nie nadaje się do Królestwa Bożego.
1 Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases. 2 And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick. 3 And he said unto them, Take nothing for your journey, neither staves, nor scrip, neither bread, neither money; neither have two coats apiece. 4 And whatsoever house ye enter into, there abide, and thence depart. 5 And whosoever will not receive you, when ye go out of that city, shake off the very dust from your feet for a testimony against them. 6 And they departed, and went through the towns, preaching the gospel, and healing every where.
7 ¶ Now Herod the tetrarch heard of all that was done by him: and he was perplexed, because that it was said of some, that John was risen from the dead; 8 And of some, that Elias had appeared; and of others, that one of the old prophets was risen again. 9 And Herod said, John have I beheaded: but who is this, of whom I hear such things? And he desired to see him.
10 ¶ And the apostles, when they were returned, told him all that they had done. And he took them, and went aside privately into a desert place belonging to the city called Bethsaida. 11 And the people, when they knew it , followed him: and he received them, and spake unto them of the kingdom of God, and healed them that had need of healing. 12 And when the day began to wear away, then came the twelve, and said unto him, Send the multitude away, that they may go into the towns and country round about, and lodge, and get victuals: for we are here in a desert place. 13 But he said unto them, Give ye them to eat. And they said, We have no more but five loaves and two fishes; except we should go and buy meat for all this people. 14 For they were about five thousand men. And he said to his disciples, Make them sit down by fifties in a company. 15 And they did so, and made them all sit down. 16 Then he took the five loaves and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed them, and brake, and gave to the disciples to set before the multitude. 17 And they did eat, and were all filled: and there was taken up of fragments that remained to them twelve baskets.
18 ¶ And it came to pass, as he was alone praying, his disciples were with him: and he asked them, saying, Whom say the people that I am? 19 They answering said, John the Baptist; but some say , Elias; and others say , that one of the old prophets is risen again. 20 He said unto them, But whom say ye that I am? Peter answering said, The Christ of God. 21 And he straitly charged them, and commanded them to tell no man that thing; 22 Saying, The Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be slain, and be raised the third day.
23 ¶ And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. 24 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it. 25 For what is a man advantaged, if he gain the whole world, and lose himself, or be cast away? 26 For whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he shall come in his own glory, and in his Father’s, and of the holy angels. 27 But I tell you of a truth, there be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the kingdom of God.
28 ¶ And it came to pass about an eight days after these sayings, he took Peter and John and James, and went up into a mountain to pray. 29 And as he prayed, the fashion of his countenance was altered, and his raiment was white and glistering. 30 And, behold, there talked with him two men, which were Moses and Elias: 31 Who appeared in glory, and spake of his decease which he should accomplish at Jerusalem. 32 But Peter and they that were with him were heavy with sleep: and when they were awake, they saw his glory, and the two men that stood with him. 33 And it came to pass, as they departed from him, Peter said unto Jesus, Master, it is good for us to be here: and let us make three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias: not knowing what he said. 34 While he thus spake, there came a cloud, and overshadowed them: and they feared as they entered into the cloud. 35 And there came a voice out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him. 36 And when the voice was past, Jesus was found alone. And they kept it close, and told no man in those days any of those things which they had seen.
37 ¶ And it came to pass, that on the next day, when they were come down from the hill, much people met him. 38 And, behold, a man of the company cried out, saying, Master, I beseech thee, look upon my son: for he is mine only child. 39 And, lo, a spirit taketh him, and he suddenly crieth out; and it teareth him that he foameth again, and bruising him hardly departeth from him. 40 And I besought thy disciples to cast him out; and they could not. 41 And Jesus answering said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you, and suffer you? Bring thy son hither. 42 And as he was yet a coming, the devil threw him down, and tare him . And Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, and healed the child, and delivered him again to his father.
43 ¶ And they were all amazed at the mighty power of God. But while they wondered every one at all things which Jesus did, he said unto his disciples, 44 Let these sayings sink down into your ears: for the Son of man shall be delivered into the hands of men. 45 But they understood not this saying, and it was hid from them, that they perceived it not: and they feared to ask him of that saying.
46 ¶ Then there arose a reasoning among them, which of them should be greatest. 47 And Jesus, perceiving the thought of their heart, took a child, and set him by him, 48 And said unto them, Whosoever shall receive this child in my name receiveth me: and whosoever shall receive me receiveth him that sent me: for he that is least among you all, the same shall be great.
49 ¶ And John answered and said, Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name; and we forbad him, because he followeth not with us. 50 And Jesus said unto him, Forbid him not: for he that is not against us is for us.
51 ¶ And it came to pass, when the time was come that he should be received up, he stedfastly set his face to go to Jerusalem, 52 And sent messengers before his face: and they went, and entered into a village of the Samaritans, to make ready for him. 53 And they did not receive him, because his face was as though he would go to Jerusalem. 54 And when his disciples James and John saw this , they said, Lord, wilt thou that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elias did? 55 But he turned, and rebuked them, and said, Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of. 56 For the Son of man is not come to destroy men’s lives, but to save them . And they went to another village.
57 ¶ And it came to pass, that, as they went in the way, a certain man said unto him, Lord, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest. 58 And Jesus said unto him, Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head. 59 And he said unto another, Follow me. But he said, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father. 60 Jesus said unto him, Let the dead bury their dead: but go thou and preach the kingdom of God. 61 And another also said, Lord, I will follow thee; but let me first go bid them farewell, which are at home at my house. 62 And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.
