God the Supreme Ruler
1 God presides in the heavenly council;
in the assembly of the gods he gives his decision:
2 “You must stop judging unjustly;
you must no longer be partial to the wicked!
3 Defend the rights of the poor and the orphans;
be fair to the needy and the helpless.
4 Rescue them from the power of evil people.
5 “How ignorant you are! How stupid!
You are completely corrupt,
and justice has disappeared from the world.
6 ‘You are gods,’ I said;
‘all of you are children of the Most High.’
7 But you will die like mortals;
your life will end like that of any prince.”
8 Come, O God, and rule the world;
all the nations are yours.

Salmo de Asaf.
1 Dios preside la reunión de los dioses,
y en medio de ellos emite su sentencia:
2 «¿Hasta cuándo ustedes juzgarán con injusticia,
y tratarán como inocentes a los impíos?
3 ¡Defiendan a los pobres y a los huérfanos!
¡Hagan justicia a los afligidos y a los menesterosos!
4 ¡Liberen a los afligidos y a los necesitados!
¡Pónganlos a salvo del poder de los impíos!
5 »Pero ustedes no saben ni entienden;
¡andan en completa oscuridad!
¡Por eso la tierra tiembla hasta sus cimientos!
6 »Alguna vez les dije: “Ustedes son dioses.
Todos ustedes son hijos del Altísimo.”
7 ¡Pero ahora morirán como cualquier hombre!
¡Morirán como cualquiera de los príncipes!»
8 ¡Levántate, oh Dios, y juzga la tierra!
¡Tuyas son todas las naciones!
