Laws concerning Gifts to the Lord
1 The Lord gave Moses 2 the following regulations for the people of Israel. When any of you have been given to the Lord in fulfillment of a special vow, you may be set free by the payment of the following sums of money, 3-7 according to the official standard:
–adult male, twenty to sixty years old: 50 pieces of silver–adult female: 30 pieces of silver–young male, five to twenty years old: 20 pieces of silver–young female: 10 pieces of silver–infant male under five: 5 pieces of silver–infant female: 3 pieces of silver–male above sixty years of age: 15 pieces of silver–female above sixty: 10 pieces of silver8 If any of you make a vow and are too poor to pay the standard price, you shall bring the person to the priest, and the priest will set a lower price, according to your ability to pay.
9 If your vow concerns an animal that is acceptable as an offering to the Lord, then every gift made to the Lord is sacred, 10 and you may not substitute another animal for it. If you do, both animals belong to the Lord. 11 But if your vow concerns a ritually unclean animal, which is not acceptable as an offering to the Lord, you shall take the animal to the priest. 12 The priest shall set a price for it, according to its good or bad qualities, and the price will be final. 13 If you wish to buy it back, you must pay the price plus an additional 20 percent.
14 When any of you dedicate your house to the Lord, the priest shall set the price according to its good or bad points, and the price will be final. 15 If you wish to buy your house back, you must pay the price plus an additional 20 percent.
16 If any of you dedicate part of your land to the Lord, the price shall be set according to the amount of seed it takes to sow it, at the rate of ten pieces of silver per bushel of barley. 17 If you dedicate the land immediately after a Year of Restoration, the full price applies. 18 If you dedicate it any time later, the priest shall estimate the cash value according to the number of years left until the next Year of Restoration, and set a reduced price. 19 If you wish to buy your field back, you must pay the price plus an additional 20 percent. 20 If you sell the field to someone else without first buying it back from the Lord, you lose the right to buy it back. 21 At the next Year of Restoration the field will become the Lord's permanent property; it shall belong to the priests.
22 If you dedicate to the Lord a field that you have bought, 23 the priest shall estimate its value according to the number of years until the next Year of Restoration, and you must pay the price that very day; the money belongs to the Lord. 24 At the Year of Restoration the field shall be returned to the original owner or to the descendants.
25 All prices shall be set according to the official standard.
26 The first-born of an animal already belongs to the Lord, so no one may dedicate it to him as a freewill offering. A calf, a lamb, or a kid belongs to the Lord, 27 but the first-born of an unclean animal may be bought back at the standard price plus an additional 20 percent. If it is not bought back, it may be sold to someone else at the standard price.
28 None of you may sell or buy back what you have unconditionally dedicated to the Lord, whether it is a human being, an animal, or land. It belongs permanently to the Lord. 29 Not even human beings who have been unconditionally dedicated may be bought back; they must be put to death.
30 One tenth of all the produce of the land, whether grain or fruit, belongs to the Lord. 31 If you wish to buy any of it back, you must pay the standard price plus an additional 20 percent. 32 One of every ten domestic animals belongs to the Lord. When the animals are counted, every tenth one belongs to the Lord. 33 You may not arrange the animals so that the poor animals are chosen, and you may not make any substitutions. If you do substitute one animal for another, then both animals will belong to the Lord and may not be bought back.
34 These are the commands that the Lord gave Moses on Mount Sinai for the people of Israel.
Consagración y rescate
1 El Señor habló con Moisés, y le dijo:
2 «Habla con los hijos de Israel, y diles que cuando alguien me haga un voto especial, el cálculo se hará según el número de personas que se hayan de redimir.
3 Los varones de veinte a sesenta años los calcularás en cincuenta monedas de plata, según el peso oficial del santuario;
4 las mujeres, las estimarás en treinta monedas de plata.
5 Los varones de cinco a veinte años los calcularás en veinte monedas; las mujeres, en diez monedas.
6 Los varones de un mes y hasta cinco años, los calcularás en cinco monedas de plata; las mujeres, en tres monedas de plata.
7 Los varones mayores de sesenta años los calcularás en quince monedas; las mujeres, en diez.
8 »Si quien hizo el voto es muy pobre para pagar el rescate calculado, deberá ser llevado ante el sacerdote para que este fije el precio, según las posibilidades del que hizo el voto.
9 »Si se trata de uno de los animales que suelen presentarse al Señor como ofrenda, ese animal presentado al Señor quedará consagrado.
10 No podrá ser cambiado ni trocado, ni bueno por malo, ni malo por bueno. En caso de permutar un animal por otro, ambos animales quedarán consagrados.
11 »Si el animal presentado es impuro, es decir, de los que no se ofrecen al Señor, se pondrá el animal delante del sacerdote,
12 y este determinará si el animal es bueno o malo, y prevalecerá la estimación del sacerdote.
13 Si el que presenta el animal quiere rescatarlo, deberá pagar una quinta parte más del valor calculado.
14 »Si alguien dedica su casa y la consagra al Señor, el sacerdote determinará si esta es buena o mala, y prevalecerá la estimación del sacerdote.
15 »Si el que dedica la casa desea rescatarla, deberá pagar una quinta parte más del valor calculado, y entonces la casa será suya.
16 »Si alguien dedica al Señor una parte de su terreno familiar, su valor se calculará según lo que se siembre en ella. Por cada doscientos litros de semilla de cebada se pagarán cincuenta monedas de plata.
17 »Si el terreno se dedica a partir del año del jubileo, prevalecerá el valor calculado.
18 »Si el terreno se dedica después del jubileo, entonces el sacerdote calculará su valor según los años que falten hasta el año del jubileo, y el valor calculado se reducirá.
19 »Si el que dedica el terreno quiere redimirlo, deberá pagar una quinta parte más del valor calculado, y entonces el terreno será suyo.
20 »Si el que dedica el terreno no lo rescata, y este se vende a otro, ya no podrá rescatarlo.
21 Cuando llegue el jubileo y el terreno sea liberado, quedará consagrado al Señor como tierra santa, y pasará a ser propiedad sacerdotal.
22 »Si alguien compra un terreno que no era de su herencia familiar, y lo dedica al Señor,
23 entonces el sacerdote calculará su valor hasta el año del jubileo, y ese día se deberá pagar el precio señalado. Se trata de una ofrenda consagrada al Señor.
24 En el año del jubileo el terreno volverá a ser propiedad familiar de quien lo había comprado.
25 »Todos los cálculos se harán según el peso oficial del santuario, que es el siclo de diez gramos de plata.
26 »La primera cría de los animales, sea un ternero o una oveja, no podrá ser dedicada. Se trata de un primogénito, y le pertenece al Señor.
27 »Si esta primera cría es de animales impuros, podrá ser rescatada según el valor calculado, más una quinta parte de ese valor. Si no es rescatada, se venderá según el valor calculado.
28 »No podrá venderse ni rescatarse nada que haya sido consagrado por completo al Señor. Trátese de hombres o animales, o de terrenos de su posesión, todo lo consagrado por completo al Señor es una ofrenda santísima.
29 Ninguna persona consagrada por completo al Señor podrá ser rescatada. Indefectiblemente será condenada a muerte.
30 »El diezmo de la tierra es del Señor, lo mismo de la simiente de la tierra como del fruto de los árboles. Se trata de una ofrenda consagrada al Señor.
31 »Si alguien quiere rescatar algo del diezmo, deberá para ello añadir la quinta parte de su valor.
32 »El diezmo de las vacas o de las ovejas, es decir, de todos los animales que pasan bajo la vara, será consagrado al Señor.
33 No se verá si el animal es bueno o malo, ni se cambiará por otro animal. En caso de cambiarlo, tanto el primer animal como el dado a cambio quedarán consagrados y no podrán ser rescatados.»
34 Estos son los mandamientos que el Señor dio a Moisés en el monte Sinaí para los hijos de Israel.
