El pecado de Nadab y Abiú
1 Nadab y Abiú, hijos de Aarón, tomaron cada uno su incensario, y pusieron en ellos fuego, sobre el cual pusieron incienso, y ofrecieron delante de Jehová fuego extraño, que él nunca les mandó. 2 Y salió fuego de delante de Jehová y los quemó, y murieron delante de Jehová. 3 Entonces dijo Moisés a Aarón: Esto es lo que habló Jehová, diciendo: En los que a mí se acercan me santificaré, y en presencia de todo el pueblo seré glorificado. Y Aarón calló.
4 Y llamó Moisés a Misael y a Elzafán, hijos de Uziel tío de Aarón, y les dijo: Acercaos y sacad a vuestros hermanos de delante del santuario, fuera del campamento. 5 Y ellos se acercaron y los sacaron con sus túnicas fuera del campamento, como dijo Moisés. 6 Entonces Moisés dijo a Aarón, y a Eleazar e Itamar sus hijos: No descubráis vuestras cabezas, ni rasguéis vuestros vestidos en señal de duelo, para que no muráis, ni se levante la ira sobre toda la congregación; pero vuestros hermanos, toda la casa de Israel, sí lamentarán por el incendio que Jehová ha hecho. 7 Ni saldréis de la puerta del tabernáculo de reunión, porque moriréis; por cuanto el aceite de la unción de Jehová está sobre vosotros. Y ellos hicieron conforme al dicho de Moisés.
8 Y Jehová habló a Aarón, diciendo: 9 Tú, y tus hijos contigo, no beberéis vino ni sidra cuando entréis en el tabernáculo de reunión, para que no muráis; estatuto perpetuo será para vuestras generaciones, 10 para poder discernir entre lo santo y lo profano, y entre lo inmundo y lo limpio, 11 y para enseñar a los hijos de Israel todos los estatutos que Jehová les ha dicho por medio de Moisés.
12 Y Moisés dijo a Aarón, y a Eleazar y a Itamar sus hijos que habían quedado: Tomad la ofrenda que queda de las ofrendas encendidas a Jehová, y comedla sin levadura junto al altar, porque es cosa muy santa. 13 La comeréis, pues, en lugar santo; porque esto es para ti y para tus hijos, de las ofrendas encendidas a Jehová, pues que así me ha sido mandado.
14 Comeréis asimismo en lugar limpio, tú y tus hijos y tus hijas contigo, el pecho mecido y la espaldilla elevada, porque por derecho son tuyos y de tus hijos, dados de los sacrificios de paz de los hijos de Israel. 15 Con las ofrendas de las grosuras que se han de quemar, traerán la espaldilla que se ha de elevar y el pecho que será mecido como ofrenda mecida delante de Jehová; y será por derecho perpetuo tuyo y de tus hijos, como Jehová lo ha mandado.
16 Y Moisés preguntó por el macho cabrío de la expiación, y se halló que había sido quemado; y se enojó contra Eleazar e Itamar, los hijos que habían quedado de Aarón, diciendo: 17 ¿Por qué no comisteis la expiación en lugar santo? Pues es muy santa,
y la dio él a vosotros para llevar la iniquidad de la congregación, para que sean reconciliados delante de Jehová. 18 Ved que la sangre no fue llevada dentro del santuario; y vosotros debíais comer la ofrenda en el lugar santo, como yo mandé. 19 Y respondió Aarón a Moisés: He aquí hoy han ofrecido su expiación y su holocausto delante de Jehová; pero a mí me han sucedido estas cosas, y si hubiera yo comido hoy del sacrificio de expiación, ¿sería esto grato a Jehová? 20 Y cuando Moisés oyó esto, se dio por satisfecho.
Nadab and Abihu
1 Nadab and Abihu were two of Aaron's sons, but they disobeyed the Lord by burning incense to him on a fire pan, when they were not supposed to.
2 Suddenly the Lord sent fiery flames and burned them to death. 3 Then Moses told Aaron that this was exactly what the Lord had meant when he said:
“I demand respect
from my priests,
and I will be praised
by everyone!”
Aaron was speechless.
4 Moses sent for Mishael and Elzaphan, the two sons of Aaron's uncle Uzziel. Then he told them, “Take these two dead relatives of yours outside the camp far from the entrance to the sacred tent.” 5 So they dragged the dead men away by their clothes.
6 Then Moses told Aaron and his other two sons, Eleazar and Ithamar:
Don't show your sorrow by messing up your hair and tearing your priestly clothes, or the Lord will get angry. He will kill the three of you and punish everyone else. It's all right for your relatives, the people of Israel, to mourn for those he destroyed by fire. 7 But you are the Lord's chosen priests, and you must not leave the sacred tent, or you will die.
Aaron and his two sons obeyed Moses.
8 The Lord said to Aaron:
9 When you or your sons enter the sacred tent, you must never drink beer or wine. If you do, you will die right there! This law will never change. 10 You must learn the difference between what is holy and what isn't holy and between the clean and the unclean. 11 You must also teach the people of Israel everything that I commanded Moses to say to them.

Moses told Aaron and his two sons, Eleazar and Ithamar:
The grain sacrifice that was offered to give thanks to the Lord
is very holy. So make bread without yeast from the part that wasn't sent up in smoke and eat it beside the altar. 13 The Lord has said that this belongs to you and your sons, and that it must be eaten in a holy place. 14-15
But the choice ribs and the hind leg that were lifted up
may be eaten by your entire family, as long as you do so in an acceptable place.
These parts are yours from the sacrifices that the people offer to ask the Lord's blessing.
This is what the Lord has commanded, and it will never change.
16 When Moses asked around and learned that the ram for the sin sacrifice had already been burned on the altar, he became angry with Eleazar and Ithamar and said, 17
“Why didn't you eat the meat from this sacrifice in an acceptable place? It is very holy, and the Lord has given you this sacrifice to remove Israel's sin and guilt. 18 Whenever an animal's blood isn't brought into the sacred tent, I commanded you to eat its meat in an acceptable place, but you burned it instead.”
19 Their father Aaron replied, “Today two of my sons offered the sacrifice for sin and the sacrifice to please the Lord, and look what has happened to me! Would the Lord have approved if I had eaten the sacrifice for sin?”
20 Moses was satisfied with Aaron's reply.
