Cyrus Commands the Jews to Return
1 In the first year that Cyrus of Persia was emperor, the Lord made what he had said through the prophet Jeremiah come true. He prompted Cyrus to issue the following command and send it out in writing to be read aloud everywhere in his empire:
2 “This is the command of Cyrus, Emperor of Persia. The Lord, the God of Heaven, has made me ruler over the whole world and has given me the responsibility of building a temple for him in Jerusalem in Judah. 3 May God be with all of you who are his people. You are to go to Jerusalem and rebuild the Temple of the Lord, the God of Israel, the God who is worshiped in Jerusalem. 4 If any of his people in exile need help to return, their neighbors are to give them this help. They are to provide them with silver and gold, supplies and pack animals, as well as offerings to present in the Temple of God in Jerusalem.”
5 Then the heads of the clans of the tribes of Judah and Benjamin, the priests and Levites, and everyone else whose heart God had moved got ready to go and rebuild the Lord's Temple in Jerusalem. 6 All their neighbors helped them by giving them many things: silver utensils, gold, supplies, pack animals, other valuables, and offerings for the Temple.
7 Emperor Cyrus gave them back the bowls and cups that King Nebuchadnezzar had taken from the Temple in Jerusalem and had put in the temple of his gods. 8 He handed them over to Mithredath, chief of the royal treasury, who made an inventory of them for Sheshbazzar, the governor of Judah, 9-10 as follows:

11 In all there were 5,400 gold and silver bowls and other articles which Sheshbazzar took with him when he and the other exiles went from Babylon to Jerusalem.
Указ царя Кіра про повернення полонених та відбудову Господнього Храму
1 Першого року владарювання перського царя Кіра , – як виконання Господнього слова, провіщеного через Єремію, – Господь спонукав дух перського царя Кіра, аби він оголосив по всьому своєму царстві, усно та письмово, повідомляючи:
2 Так говорить Кір, цар Персії: Усі царства землі дав мені Господь, Бог небес, і Він доручив мені збудувати Йому Храм у Єрусалимі, що в Юдеї.
3 Хто з-посеред вас належить до Його народу, – нехай його Бог буде з ним, – і нехай він вирушає до Єрусалима, що в Юдеї, і нехай будує Храм Господу, Богу Ізраїлю. Адже це є той Бог, Який у Єрусалимі.
4 А всім, котрі залишилися з цього народу , де би вони не проживали, нехай місцеві мешканці допоможуть таким сріблом, золотом, усяким майном і худобою, а також добровільними пожертвами для Божого Храму, що в Ізраїлі.
5 Тож піднялися глави батьківських родин Юди та Веніяміна, священики та левіти, – всі, чий дух відчув Боже спонукання, щоб іти й будувати Господній Храм, що в Єрусалимі.
6 А їхні довколишні сусіди підтримали їх срібним посудом, золотом, усяким майном, худобою і коштовними дарами, окрім усіх інших добровільних дарів.
7 Цар Кір виніс також посуд Господнього Храму, який Навуходоносор забрав з Єрусалима, поклавши його в капищі свого бога.
8 Перський цар Кір передав його у руки свого скарбника Мітредата, який за рахунком вручив усе Юдиному князю Шешбаццару .
9 Там налічувалось: тридцять золотих посудин, тисяча срібних посудин, двадцять дев’ять ножів,
10 тридцять золотих чаш, чотириста десять срібних подвійних чаш, тисяча предметів різного іншого посуду.
11 Усього золотого та срібного начиння було п’ять тисяч чотириста. Все це Шешбаццар вивіз із собою під час повернення переселенців з Вавилону в Єрусалим.
